It appears that even the most cautious practical approach to environmental management and business activity uses some non-renewable resources, creates some waste and involves potentially damaging technologies.

We have assumed in this book (in common with many others) that a number of different theoretical approaches to ethics have something to offer business ethics. It does appear that different theories do have the ability to highlight different aspects of the same problem context and therefore are of potential value. This acceptance of the practical merit of using differing ethical approaches, together or as appropriate, itself reflects a theoretical position which not all would accept but most texts on business and organisational ethics do in fact deal with a range of theories even if they eventually favour a particular approach.
